源自拉丁文 lībr āre, to balance, to weigh 平衡；考虑，掂量。

★ libra

n. 磅 ( 古罗马重量单位 ) ； Libra [ 拉 ][ 天 ] 天秤座，天秤宫

★ de liber ate  v. 仔细考虑；研讨，商讨 adj. 故意的，蓄意的；慎重的；不慌不忙的，从容不迫的

｛ de-, entirely 彻底地 ＋ -liber-, to weigh 掂量 ＋ -ate, to make 动词字尾，表「使～」 → 仔细考虑；研讨，商讨｝

* We should deliberate what to do tomorrow. 我们应该考虑一下明天做什么。 (vt.)

* I deliberated with the director on the future plans of production. 我和厂长商讨了下一步的生产计划。 (vi.)

* He told us a deliberate lie. 他故意跟我们撒谎。 (adj.)

* He was deliberate in his speech and action. 他谨言慎行。 (adj.)

* He entered the room with deliberate steps. 他从容不迫地走进室内。 (adj.)

* I believe the house was deliberately set fire to. 我认为有人蓄意放火烧这幢房子。

* Slowly and with deliberation she turned to me and told me to get out. 她不慌不忙地转过头来，叫我滚蛋。

* After long deliberation , they decided not to buy the house. 他们商量了很长时间后决定不买这栋房子了。

* Mary is an impulsive nature under a deliberative aspect. 玛丽是个外表持重而性格好冲动的人。 {impulsive  adj. 冲动的 }

｛ libr-, to balance 平衡 ＋ -ate, cause to be 动词字尾，表「使～」 → 使平衡 → ( 均匀 ) 摆动｝

* The red riband is librating on the tree. 那条红丝带在树上摆动着。 {riband  n. 丝带 }

★ libr etto  n. 歌剧剧本

｛ libr-, book 书 ＋ -etto, 源自意大利語，表示小稱 → 小型书 → 歌剧剧本｝

※ -etto , 源自意大利語，表示小稱，又如：

· allegro 急速的乐章 → allegretto < 音 > 小快板

· Amore 丘比特，爱神 → amoretto 小爱神

· cavo 空的 → cavetto [ 建 ] 凹弧饰

· falso 假的 → falsetto 假声

· stilo 匕首 → stiletto 细短剑，打眼锥

* The printed libretto was handsomely got up. 这本印刷的歌剧剧本装帧得很美观。 {handsomely  adv. 帅气地，熟练地 }

☆ librett ist n. (the author of a libretto) 歌剧剧本作者
