源自拉丁文 memor, remember 回忆，记忆，纪念。

★ re member  v. 记得；牢记；请向～致意，代向～致意

｛ re-, intensive prefix 加强词意 ＋ -member 回忆，记忆｝

* I don’t remember him. 我记不起他了。 (vt.)

* Please remember to give her the book. 请记着把这本书给她。 (vi.)

* Please remember me to your mother. 请代我向你母亲致意。 (vt.)

☆ remembr ance  n. 记忆，回忆；纪念物

｛ rememb(e)r 回想起；记住 ＋ -ance, action 名词字尾，表「动作」 → 记忆，回忆｝

* Do you have any remembrance of your childhood? 你还记得童年的事吗？

* This watch is a remembrance of my father. 这块手表是我父亲留下的纪念品。

★ memor y  n. 记忆；记忆力

｛ memor-, remember 记忆 ＋ -y, quality, action 名词字尾，表「性质或动作」｝

* He lost his memory after that accident. 那次事故后他丧失了记忆。

* Grandmother has a good memory and she can remember things which happened many years ago 祖母的记忆力很好，她能记起多少年前发生的事。

※ -o 做名词字尾，又如： motto ( 座右铭 ) ， volcano ( 火山 ) ， studio ( 工作室 ) 。

★ memor andum  n. 备忘录

｛ memor-, remember 纪念 ＋ -and 形容 词字尾 ＋ -um, thing 名词字尾，表「物」 → 备忘录｝

【来源】 memor, mindful （留意的） → memorare, to call to mind （使想起，回想） → 动词状形容词 memorandus → 单数中性形式 memorandum ， (thing) to be remembered （被记得的 ( 事 ) ）

★ mem oir  n. 回忆录

﹡ She wrote a memoir of her stay in France. 她写了一篇旅法记事录。

- oir , 常表示「处所 place 」，源自法语字尾 - oir e ，如：
