John: In Real English, we look at words and phrases that you might not find in your dictionary.

Feifei: 和汉语一样，英语语言里也是有好多的成语和俗语。所以想要听得懂英国人日常的说话聊天，咱们就要多学点儿这些通俗用语和用法。John, I’ve always wondered how tall you are.

John: Have a guess!

Feifei: 185 centimetres?

John: Spot-on!

Feifei: What does that mean? Am I right then?

John: Yes, you are absolutely correct!

Feifei: 今天我们要学习的短语是 "spot-on"，它的意思是准确无误，完全正确的意思。So are there any other ways of using "spot-on"?

John: Yes, let"s listen to some examples.

Examples

A: How was your meal?

B: Oh, it was lovely. The combination of the wine and the food was spot-on!

A: Isn"t that what you"ve been looking for?

B: Spot-on!

John: So "spot-on" can mean exactly what we want or need in this case.

Feifei: "Spot-on" 还可以用来表示正好是我们需要或是想要的东西，恰到好处的意思。Isn"t it, John?

John: Spot-on!
