挪威奥登三重奏演员英文简介

Piano Einar Rottingen

In 2005 Røttingen was soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in the first performance of Knut Vaage"s Piano Concerto "The Gardens of Hokkaido". He has recently released the solo-CD Norwegian Variations (Chosen as "Selection of the month" in International Piano March/April 2006 and awarded "Record of the Year 2005" of the Grieg Society of Great Britain) which includes Grieg"s Ballade op.24 and sonatas by Fartein Valen and Geirr Tveitt. This CD is also part of a newly finished PhD Doctoral project "Establishing a Norwegian Piano Tradition: Interpretive sides of Edvard Grieg"s Ballade op.24, Fartein Valen"s Sonata no.2 and Geirr Tveitt"s Sonata no.29 op.129".

Einar Røttingen has received the "City of Bergen Cultural Prize" for his outstanding work as musician and pedagogue. At the Bergen International Festival he also was awarded the "Robert Levin Festival Prize" for his recordings of Sæverud"s piano music and his profile as a pianist. He is currently Professor of Music Performance and Head of the Masters Program in Performance at the Grieg Academy, Department of Music, University of Bergen.

Violin David Stewart

David Stewart , renowned violinist and conductor in Canada, plays an important role in classic music field both in North America and Europe. He served for many years as concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Norway), appearing often as soloist in this and other Scandinavian orchestras and performed with many Scandinavian chamber music ensembles. David has commissioned and recorded several new works, including Andrew P. MacDonald’s Juno-award winning Violin concerto. He has participated in many festivals including San Diego’s Mainly Mozart, Domaine Forget, Maine’s Saeverud Festival and Finland’s Sysman Suvisoitta. David Stewart is co-founder of Winnipeg’s Agassiz Chamber Music Festival and the Norwegian contemporary music ensemble BIT-20, and the newly-formed Quatuor Lumière.

 

 

Cello Paul Widner

Cellist Paul Widner is one of Canada’s most active performers, appearing throughout Europe, the United States and Canada as soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. Since 1985, Mr. Widner has been the assistant principal cellist with the Canadian Opera Company orchestra. Much sough after as a chamber musician, he has performed with a variety of chamber groups, including the Made-in-Canada piano quartet, the Amaro quartet and the Toronto Chamber Players. He was also a founding member of the Amadeus Ensemble. He is on the faculty of the Glenn Gould School and the University of Toronto and was acting cello professor at the University of Western Ontario in 2007-2008. He has been invited to conduct master classes and workshops at several schools throughout Canada, including the University of British Columbia, the Banff Centre and the Royal Conservatory of Music and is on the faculty of the Music at Port Milford summer chamber music festival. His expertise has been in the field of contemporary music. He has been the principal cellist with the Esprit orchestra since 1985, founding member of the Continuum ensemble and performs regularly with New Music Concerts, Arraymusic and Soundstreams and has debuted and commissioned numerous Canadian works. He has recently performed as soloist in the North American premiere of the Penderecki Concerto Grosso for three cellos and orchestra and “Seven Words” by Sofia Gubaidulina. Mr. Widner records with CBC records and other independent labels and appeared with Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian on “Azulao”-a recording for voice and cello ensemble which won a Juno award for best Classical Vocal Album. Mr. Widner is a regular performer at various international festivals including the Huddersfield New Music Festival, Die Neue Musik in Chicago, the Gaudemus and Shift Festivals in Amsterdam, the Edinburgh Festival and the Montreal new Music Festivals.
