Steven emailed me the lyric of the beautiful song—Whispering Softly I Love You.  He requested me to write a composition of no more than 150 words.I am not good at reviewing songs or movies.  My thoughts are still very much confined to emotional depiction of my feelings, a tendency of cheesy writing.

The beautiful voice, melancholy and ethereal, stirred me up at the softest of my heart. The attractive, masculine voice awakened my yearning for love, which has been lurking for years; the soft, sweet melody flowed peacefully through my heart; the deep, genuine sentiments came flooding from within.  I have to say that I am totally intoxicated.

The singer must be madly in love with his woman. He reminisces happy hours with her.  He does not sing cheesy words of love, and yet paints a romantic picture. In a dream he hears her and wakes up.  He pushes open the window, and the chill of the breeze brings him back into reality—he is not with her.  The glowing moon bathes the world outside, and he remembers having walked with her hand in hand in the rose colored land.  There is solitude, but it does not mean loneliness.  He feels strongly connected with her, and he is happy deep inside, murmuring her name.

This love is touching, for it is deep and real. In the awakening illusions he sees her cradling in his arms. He feels her lips close to his face.  The warmth of her breath, the whispering of "I love you" from his angel, her earnest gazing into his eyes are vividly expressed to the fullness.

This love is inspiring, for it is so close to me. Hearing the affectionate verses, we would spontaneously recollect our first love, the same unforgettable one. It is not affected by the mundane constraints. It is but the true feeling between two lovers.  Such love is unconditional, and thus is precious. 

I bet nobody can sing the song and becomes as influential if he is not genuinely in love.  This song will live long.  Its impact on our heart stays and deepens itself as we grow.  One day when we are old, and when there comes the same melody as we walk hand in hand with our wife or husband in the glittering sunset, we are surely melted in its beauty, for, in our heart, we are proud of the love we have adored.
