爱思英语编者按:奥运会上勇夺三金的飞人博尔特将在9月4日迎来主要竞争对手盖伊的挑战,两大飞人的竞速少不了一番龙争虎斗。
Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt will race chief rival Tyson Gay at Brussels on September 4, Gay"s manager told Reuters on Wednesday.
"It will likely be a 100 (meters) but it is confirmed they will race," Mark Wetmore said in a telephone interview.
Discussions also are under way for the two to race in Zurich on August 28, Gay and Wetmore said in a separate teleconference with U.S. reporters.
The distance in Zurich is to be determined, Wetmore said.
"There have been a couple of discussions," Gay said. "Mark says people really want to see a one-off race (between the two).
Jamaican Bolt and American Gay, who have not met on the track this year, are expected to be the major draw of the August 15-23 world championships in Berlin. Both are scheduled to run at 100 and 200 meters.
Bolt set world records in both sprint events at the Beijing Olympics.
Gay, the 2007 double sprint world champion, did not appear in either final. He failed to qualify for the 100 meters championship race and did not compete in the 200 at Beijing because of a hamstring injury at the U.S. trials.
