There are all sorts of sounds around us, and we sometimes need to describe those sounds in writing or conversations.

It"s not too difficult to describe sounds in Chinese but how about in English?

Look at the following Chinese descriptions and see whether you know how to say them in English:

震耳欲聋的机器声

呼啸而过的飞机声

尖锐刺耳的喇叭声

歇斯底里的狂笑声

How noisy is your car?

In this programme you will hear lots of everyday sounds as you are listening to a radio drama. We"ll also provide you with a description of those sounds.
